Poor battery life right after 2.3 update

I am experiencing really poor battery life and it all started after doing the OTA 2.3 update. Just to give an idea of my usage on a regular day: I used to take and upload pictures to photobucket, listening to pandora over bluetooth headphones, receiving/sending work and personal emails, light browser use, texting, GPS, all in one day and battery would last a whole day. After the update, battery only lasts about two to three hours with same usage!
One thing I noticed (don't know if it's relevant) the day after the update I had my phone in my shirt pocket and started feeling it getting extremely hot, and I wasn't even uploading/downloading anything. That seemed odd, but since it didn't happen again, I didn't think much of it.
I have checked the battery mode and selected various modes, but none seem to work. Downloaded Juicedefender (free version) and that seemed to work, but it started putting my phone on airplane mode or it would just not run sometimes so I got sick of it and uninstalled it.
Has anyone experienced the same issue with their battery life after the update? I read a similar post on here saying they got better life after the update, but how could that be? Should I take the phone to Verizon to have them take a look at it? Will they even do anything about it?

(my rant: Why don't people use the SEARCH features of these forums? OK ... never mind).
Your issue has been widely discussed here and in other forums. Some people have had good luck by doing a "WIPE CACHE" procedure - which in and of itself is fairly benign and has been know to fix issues associated with GB. The next step would be to do a FACTORY RESET and see if that solves it. If after all that, then probably tie to figure out which APPs or features are contrinuting to the battery drain .. (e.g., Screen display ? Automatic ? 100%? etc.) As far as the hotness to the touch: Some have suggested that it CAN be attributed to your signal strength being low and the phone is "searching" for signal.
Oh, and welcome to the group ..
To WIPE CACHE :
- Power off
- Power On Holding Home Key
- When Andy with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
- Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
- Wait for it to finish and select reboot system
