Pre-submit rebate on-line even though I have already mailed it?

I mailed my DX rebate last week but, understandably, it hasn't shown up yet on Verizon's rebate website. The deadline of 8/21 is approaching and it is always possible that my mailed submission will get lost by the post office or by Verizon's processing center. Paranoid thinking perhaps, but it does happen and we're talking about a non-trivial amount of money.
I am wondering whether using the on-line pre-submission process at this point would help assure that I am in Verizon's rebate records by 8/21?
Or will it cause confusion if I do the pre-submit on-line this week when I have already mailed the rebate last week?

I would call the rebate center if you are worried about it. Mine processed very quickly. They rejected my online submission, but made a new tracking number when they received the documents in the mail (who knows why). What is in the mail is what actually matters. If you mailed it last week, there is a good chance they have received it and might already be printing your card. They will look it up for you if you call them.

Thanks, I had tried to call the rebate center but I could not find anyway out of the voice menus that got me to a human.
After reading your reply, I tried again and finally found a menu choice to get to a rep. I found out that I was mistaken about the submission deadline being 8/21. It is actually 10/12, which is what it states on my rebate form, so I am not sure why I thought the deadline was 8/21 .
So I have plenty of time to resubmit the rebate if it gets lost.
Thanks again for the reply.

You're welcome
The 8/21 deadline is for the $100 rebate that was offered when the phone first came out (purchased by 7/17), in case anyone reading this is confused about it too.

My receipt has a rebate deadline of 8/21. I purchased the phone at a Verizon corporate store on 7/15. A few days ago I completed the online pre-submission form (without having mailed in any of my rebate materials). The website (for the online pre-submission form) produced a webpage containing a fully completed rebate form (missing only my signature), but with a rebate deadline of 9/21 (along with instructions to print out this webage and use it as my rebate form, as opposed to the rebate form that came attached to my phone receipt).

These are two differencet rebate deadlines for the same proof of purchase code combined with the same date of purchase. I mailed my rebate materials on 8/20 just to be safe (and for an extra dollar or two you can send it certified mail, or in some other way that provides proof of mail date). Would Verizon have honored the 9/21 deadline? If so, why give with the 8/21 deadline? If Verizon would not have honored the 9/21 deadline, why state the 9/21 deadline on my online rebate form? If Verizon would honored the 9/21 rebate deadline, perhaps Verizon should state explicitly that you can extend your rebate deadline by one month simply by completing the online pre-submission form.
