Hi-
I recently got my D2 last evening and went I went into the Market for the first time, the phone began downloading all the apps that I had on my Droid Pro (which I got rid of because I had nothing but issues with). I was hoping with this new phone to start fresh. The first app it showed as downloading was Facebook for Android.. perfect. Once all the apps were completed, I went ahead and unistaled the others because, as I said I didn't want anything but the minimum. But.. the FB app wasn't there. The app downloaded but it didn't show in the app list, it doesn't show in 'my apps' and now it is completely gone from the Market. It is absolutely unsearchable though there.. the only things that come up are unoffical apps and I will not download unofficial apps. The best the Verizon store could tell me was that perhaps it got stuck in 'relay' and to use the social networking app (which I don't like because it doesn't refresh and is worthless). My other option is the mobile website via the browser, which is fine but HELLO??? I'd like the FB app because.. why shouldn't I be able to use it, ya know? Someone should have a better answer for this than "uhh I guess you're just {word filter avoidance}
.." And this from a retailer.. has this happened to anyone else or know how it can be fixed? Is a reset the only way to fix it? I hate to do that already.. I've only had it a day and my last phone had so many issues (half a dozen resets in 4 months, plus a replacements), so I am really trying to figure this out. Please help! Thanks so much.. be blessed!

Have you tried to go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications and tried uninstalling it from there? Another thing to try, in the same menu, press the all tab at the top of the screen, scroll down to and press market, then clear cache and clear data. Then reboot your phone and, after it starts back up, open up your market and search for facebook for android.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
I would in fact also recommend a factory reset. Once completed, download the Facebook first (from facebook.com. You'll see a link right on the homepage to download it.). Sorry to learn it's no longer in the Market, which is managed solely by Google, not Verizon Wireless.
Thanks,
