Problems detecting SD card

My Droid is periodically not recognizing the SD card that it came with. In the SD card and phone settings display, it shows as "Unavailable". I took the battery out and checked, and the SD card is firmly seated. It has only once ever detected it. Has anyone else run into this problem / found a sol'n?

If you have the droid set to usb mass storage, it doesn't show the card.

Could that be your issue?

I am having the same problem. What should the setting be? if not mass storage, then what? My PC thinks the SD card is a CD drive...and no drivers will load...anyone out there can help with this? I can"tload anything.....

If you're using it as a mass storage device then it should be set as mass storage. If you have it plugged in and you want to access the card directly from the Droid then set it up as something else. I use charge only.

I have a MacBook Pro and when I plug in the phone, it gives me an error message "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and gives me the Ignore / Eject options.  It then auto-opens my iPhotos.  I can ignore it and have successfully downloaded music and photos.  Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?  Do i have to reformat the SD?  That would be inconvenient if I wanted to sync some stuff from my PC.

Go into Applications --> developement --> check debugging; no more messages

How do you change it from mass usb storage, that might be my problem, it does not see my SD card ever since I plugged it into my computer

When you plug it in, go to menu - notifications, change it to charge only.

I had the same problem and after much frustration I went to Verizon.  The customer rep put his card into my phone and it recognized it so he had to put a new card in.  Problem solved
