Problems using Droid 2 Global in UK

Hi

This is my first trip overseas with the Droid 2 Global.  It does not seem to want to connect to a Vodafone network (or any one).  I called VZW before I left who said the sim card was activated when I activated my phone.  The phone is set to global and I have tried GSM/UMTS as well,  The notification area says either "Vodafone UK  Vodafone NL" on two separate lines or "3 UK" or "Orange" as the first line.  I have not unlocked the phone as I am using the sim card that came with the phone.

any suggestions ?  I know there is a Vodafone signal as I can see it on company blackberry.  But I wanted to test this out.

Thanks

Are you able to get voice (so data is the issue) or are you getting no service at all?  If it is data, you will need to check that the APN has been correctly set.  The first line is the GSM carrier being detected, the second is the SIM being used, so Vodafone NL is fine and suggests that the SIM is detected correctly.

If you are not getting voice either, I would call VZW again, because there have been several cases where they actually didn't activate the SIM (maybe a typo in the SIM ID or something).

The phone works well in the UK, but I have used it there only with local SIMs.
