Problems with Comcast Email

I've had my Droid X for several years, and received Comcast email in "Messaging" box after setting up the Comcast account. A few days ago, I started getting error notices that the phone was unable to connect to comcast because of an expired certificate from "bouncycastle.jce." Unable to figure that out, I thought I'd try to reset it by deleting my comcast email account and then setting it back up. Which I did, but now it says "unable to connect to comcast.net." BTW, I have a gmail account and a business email account that are working fine through all of this, and my comcast email works fine on my desktop computer and when accessed on-line. I spent time with a Comcast help person on chat, who could not make comcast email work in my "Messaging," but eventually had me download Xfinity Mobile. I can get my Comcast email in Xfinity Mobile, but I don't like some of the permissions required for Xfinity Mobile, not the application bloat on my device. I'd like to go back to just having the Droid pickup my comcast email through "Messaging." Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I had tried that before with no success. However, I think the problem was that I assumed when it said POP server and prompted "comcast.net," I did not need to add "mail.comcast.net." Same for the smtp outgoing address. In all events, seems to be working for the moment. Many thanks.

Try these settings.
Incoming Server (POP3)
mail.comcast.net
Port: 995
Outgoing Server
Check " My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Then, select Use same settings as my incoming mail server,
smtp.comcast.net
Port: 465
For both, click This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
I got these settings for setting up mobile email from comcasts help section.

We have had two Droid phones for several months. We also have two Comcast email accounts that we've had for years. Until recently, there have been no problems.
Over the past few days. We have been getting the same error you describe on both phones. The problem is intermittent -- I was able to get email earlier today, but neither phone can get there as I write this. It looks like a connection issue between Verizon and Comcast. Quite frustrating.

Same problem here. Started yesterday, I think - two Droid phones. No email at all on one phone using Droind email progeam. Intermittant problem on other using K-9 mail program. Total of 4 different comcast email addresses.
Both have worked perfectly since set up months ago. No error messages, just no email.

Thanks RickR1958 & curtterp for sharing your solution!
For MichGeo & psw456, please make sure you have the same settings curtterp posted above for your email account. These are the correct settings for Comcast email & should allow you to send and receive email. Also, here is a link to Motorola's website which further details the security settings you should have checked/not checked for your email account.
