I got my update this morning. My battery drains within a few hours and no matter how many times I kill the running apps they just keep coming back. The system keeps running them even after I kill them. Anyone else having this problem?

mine is doin almost the same thing....power wise...the only main thing is the e-mail alerts keep comming back even after i turn them to never check. I even went to the extent of deleting the e-mail account pref...but it came back to alerting me with the same annoying ...''DROID'' default alert.

I've read on other forums that the app killers are acutally the cause of the problem. I was running Advanced Task Killer, and once I uninstalled the problem went away. Getting more life out of my batter now that I did prior to forced FroYo update.

I'm having the exact same issue. Thanks for posting this too by the way. My phone was 100% charged this morning @ 6am (pst) and about 2-3 hours later I had to recharge it. I was under the impression that with this update there was suposed to be some "extended battery" features that killed background apps and would help extend your battery life. But then again, you read a lot of back and forth information on the internet about this update.

Same here.
The first thing I downloaded from the Market ever was ADK.
After having had mixed results and found out the truth about Android task killers I uninstalled it and let the OS manage the memory as it is intended to do.
My battery life has improved dramtically once I quit screwing with it.
This ain't Windows people... Let the OS do it's job.
I do keep a task killer installed but I don't let it manage anything.
It's only there for those rare times when I really need to single out & kill a misbehaving app.
As far as Froyo, I picked up a little tip someplace (don't remember where).
Once the update was ready, I didn't install it right away. Instead I went into Home Switcher and reverted back to a box-stock Home screen, without ADW and 4 screens full of widgets, THEN I let the update run. Took 3-4 minutes, everything is smooth and fast with no lag whatsoever. Once I was satisfied I re-enabled ADW and it's perfect.
My Quadrant score went from 331 to like 860. Crazy fast.

I was just browsing thru the forum and was reading how people who downloaded the flash 10.1 beta were having battery issues. My OTA I recieved last night included the "enhancements" to support flash 10.1 beta version. So, I am assuming that' is what is causing my battery draining problem as well. Does anyone else have these enhancements or actually has the beta version installed and is having battery issues due to this?

I suggest ATK (Advanced Task Killer), if you longpress it gives you an option to "force close."

I am having the same problems with my e-mail alerts not shutting off and all my apps reappearing, despite trying to shut them down.

You have to force close the apps to keep them off (long press and select force close/detail).
If you just use it like you used to the battery will go down faster because the OS will continue to reopen the apps that you close.
