my concern with the forthcoming Gingerbread upgrade, is that if I already have a copy of the Verizon gingerbread upgrade on my phone (the one that came out a few weeks back as a supposed 'test' that came out OTA), does that mean I'll get upgraded to the latest/greatest version or am I just out of luck - I think someone with VZW needs to clarify with this one for those few Droid X users that got that 'pre-release' version

The version that Verizon/Moto pushed to my phone has no problems. Few little quirks here and there that I assume are because it is a 'test' version, but if THEY pushed it to me, then they should be responsible for updating the phone with the 'official' version that everyone gets.....I can understand if I was running a ROM and I jailbrock the phone, then I'm out of luck....but its never been 'broken' and had a ROM installed

You may want to use caution on posting leaks like this because this is breaking forum rules because that isnt a official release and it requires you to void your warrenty to install it.

again i don't know who you're talking to and when you talked to them.

the 1st rep i talked to a few days ago had a lot of info as did the rep i just got off the phone with.
will probably happen next week(10th -13th), faster, a few issues fixed, option to download.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CALL THEM AND QUIT PUTTING OUT THE BOGUS INFO THAT THEY AREN'T TALKING ABOUT THE UPDATE.

I take it that you are a new customer,because CS usually do not have any information until they are informed to release the information, when this is public knowledge is usually the only time you will recieve the correct information... I have noticed that a number of CS reps may repeat the same information that others see on the forums but they never truly say for sure when a update is coming, they usually just say its coming.

And as for bogus info as you keep speaking of, because you happen to have someone voice information to you but they are still not saying a official date this is still a rumor in my opinion. So if you want to believe all information that is thrown around out there you can do this because this is your decision but saying that someones information is BOGUS is just a way of saying that you have a issue because it does not go with you believe. Any things like this I dont care about.

I do my research and I get hold of a good amount of information before the companies release it to the public and if you look at my post there has been a number of post informing a possible release data almost a month back.... So in my opinion you can keep your little smart comments to yourself because all I have seen from you has been statement about posters are wrong with their information when the number of the information that you are disagreeing with is public knowledge of being fact...

In the end Verizon and Motorola will report this when they thinks its ready and not before and at this moment there hasnt been one post on Verizon or Motorola site reporting the official release date,,,, By the way I was one of the users that recieved the Beta build pushed to my device and I have kept up with the official information reported so as for bogus info you need to look at your post a bit closer..

No need for me to "calm down". I'm not the one hyperventilating over this rumored update that might include some EXCITING changes like a different colored Navigation Bar. Oooow, the anticipation....

The "proper English" comment is also inaccurate. "thatthread" resulted from a Swype correction error. I really like Swype, that does happens sometimes. A spacing error has nothing to do proper English.

I am not a "know-it-all" and know, or in fact care, very little about the gb update. My opinion on updates in general is that they cause more problems than they solve (discussed in previous threads).

The point being, the subject of gb has been discussed, argued over and everything else, in previous threads. It's rude and inconsiderate to start a new thread about the same subject again and THEN AGAIN in another thread within hours.

Not going to "defend" the amount of time I "waste" browsing this, or other forums. It's more my addiction to this phone than anything else.

I login on my phone and/or computer and leave the page open all day, giving the appearance that I am logged in all day, to skip having to "re-login" everytime I go check out the forum (login issues others mentioned and also discussed in previous threads). The Search function is very useful.

Hope gb is great and it works out well. You can start as many threads about it you want to.

nolafire, the "know-it-all" I think you are referring to is wildman. And honestly, he pretty much does know it "all", or very close to it.

He is a little off, sometimes. But, no one is perfect. I read other forums and wildman is right most of the time, but he doesn't need me to defend him.

As for his command of the (written) English language.....I've never met him, or spoken to him, but I would image English is his second language (just a hunch). I never really thought about it and chose to delve into the point he was trying to make at the time, overlooking his grammatical errors, focusing on his point instead.

I know some of a second language and can imagine how difficult it would be for me to post in that instead of English. If my hunch is wrong, yeah, he could work on it.

wildman NEVER lashes out at anyone first and has been verbally attacked many times and exhibited commendable restraint. Sometimes, I suppose we all have a boiling point.

You can't and shouldn't form personality conclusions based on a few words someone types into a forum post.

Lurk, troll, participate.....but don't feel you aren't welcome or wanted. It's like a dysfunctional family. We don't all get along.

droidsw thanks for your support and I am glad I can help in any way I can.... I have tried to supply information that reflects from my years of being in the computer field. I do not try to come off as a "know it all" but to assist the user with information to assist them resolve their problem.

I test, research and attempt to verify as much information as possible before hand because that is part of my field and it just come natural for me, so if other show concern or issues with the info that I give, I respect that but when the individuals are quick to attack someone that is tring to help, it does become a pain. I dont try to redirect but simply help.

Once again for any one I am able to help, I am glad to do so but the ones that gets offended can take a breath and stop taking things so personal because the end result is to help the user. And as droidsw stated mistakes or errors do happen because no one is perfect...

Oh well, life moves on. :smileyvery-happy:

Lol agree with the disfunctional family comment but often times it takes opposing ideas to reach a real conclusion and the best result and I can't point a franker finger ever I rarely punctuate lol I use my phone for the most part when viewing and posting here so passing the vzw english exam is my last thought but I do look forward to the variety of personalities this forum supplies and the different views so to us all let's continue to butt heads while never forgetting to shake hands afterwards and let us not divert from the real issues of helping and inquiring as much as possible how long have we all had this phone and still never run out of questions...If I stay with big red down the road ( uscellular just announced 4g in my are by the end of this year and Verizon hasn't named a town around me with date for.4g anytime soon) I hope we.get the same phone so this continues

Excellent hallcp1019. It is just a phone forum. In private messages with hulk0069, I encouraged him to continue to participate.

One of the things about posting, or even when sending an email, you can't read the tone of what someone is saying. Words in all CAPS are a clue, but you still can't tell when someone is really mad, joking, indifferent, etc.

My own remarks sometimes apparently come across way more serious than intended. It's called sarcasm. Perhaps, there's another place for it, not here.

One of my wife's co-workers has a brother whose girlfriends best friends maid-of-honor at her weddings dad works for Motorola, and he said gingerbread was coming to the Droid X "soon". (He's a janitor I think, but he is a supervising janitor)
