I want to protect my smartphone and have looked at apps like Lookout but my Verizon rep said it will wipe out my phone. What is the best way to keep info secure?

Lookout is a mobile security app. It provides AntiVirus scanning, GPS phone location as well as a couple of other features to include device locking, remote wiping of the Phone and SD card which you can initiate from the internet if your phone is ever lost or stolen.
I have developed a liking for Kaspersky Mobile from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kms&feature=search_result, it has a number of the features integrated into one application that seems to function very well. It scans incoming calls and messages, verifies files and items compressed into a file, wipes device remotely and has a built in call blocker that is very accurate.
Some users notice it seem to have a decent load on a system but it does not effect the performance and also it replaced at least 3 additional apps that I would have to use to do the same thing so it makes since that it shows a heavier load because it is doing 4 apps jobs in one but load is still less than all of the apps running at one time... So consider this when you test..
Pick up a trial version from http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/free-home-trials/mobile-security before buying to see if this app is for you..
"wipes remotely"with phone finder capability, how's batt life?fwiw:i got a promotion from asperion shortly after i got the dx.to get it to work right, gps, enhanced gps & verizon towers were needed to find it when lost or to wipe it.some folks complain about batt life, wait 'til you load it or something similiar.after i installed it, not using the phone overnite, the nearly full batt needed a recharge.
read some of the user comments about kaspersky link.

I have came to the conclusion that no matter what is said you will throw negativity in the works, I use Kaspersky and I can freely say with regular use I have made it through the day without no issues... If you dont have anything helpful why bother to post?
Plus I have came to conclusion a number of posters, dont come to a forum to praise anything, they come to voice a problem so if you go off forum post only then you are only getting 10% of the users feedback..
i was posting what i found with a locator/wipe feature, piped to me 1 day after i got the phone & how it pulled my batt down in short order.some folks want to hear "real world" on how these phone locator/recoverywipe apps affect batt life before they buy them & then come here & whine how much they pull the batt down.it's like the app to put batt level on slide lock screen, anything you add is a batt pull.

Well I am using the app in real world enviroment and since the locator and wipe options are triggered by a text message notification the features does not pull any power because the feature is dormant on Kaspersky until the option is triggered by a programmed command.
I have had Kaspersky on my device almost 30 days now with no noticable battery drain... If a user want to try it I post the link for a trial which is good for 30 days, it either works or not for them...
Users wont test for themselves if when some suggest a solution someone throws a negative comment to influence them to believe the there is a reason they should use it, everything isn't for everyone and users find flaws in things they haven't used himself or from others opinions.
you have good batt life with kaspersky, i didn't with the locator i tried, both items that folks want to hear, what works, what doesn't.
Im not saying this will the same for everyone because other users will have diffrent apps and setup but I have posted several screen shots of my battery use screen and basically the battery has been good for a day charge with regular use and extended battery and this is with the app set to do a full scan of system weeekly...
