Question regarding verizon support without original receipt

My Droid Pro that I bought off of a friend (brand new) is shutting down randomly. Probably about 10 times throughout the day. I have tried factory reset and it still doesn't help.
I've read online and I know this is a common problem but mine seems to be too frequent to simply be something to deal with. My question is that if my friend does not have the original receipt is there any way possible for me to bring it in to a verizon store to have help with the phone, or get a replacement.

That phone has no warranty
When you activated it on your account it no longer has a manufacturer warranty..
Hopefully you can get it working

Unleess you guys are on the same account and did an alternate upgrade (which it doesn't sound like)
The warranty covers the phone, untill it is resold. At that point the warranty becomes void.
Thats pretty standard across any platform..you can try to fight it with motorola but i know verizon won't be able to do anything and even calling motorola will most likely be a waste of your time

What if I can have the original person give me the receipt. Can the fact that it is now activated on a different account it was purchased on be used as proof if I go to try and get it repaired/replaced either at Motorola or verizon.

Even though it might be legitimately defective they don't have to honor the warranty.. Tough break man

I only buy a used unit from a 3rd party souce only for a test unit because in reality, you are usually just buying someone elses headaches.

When you performed the factory reset, did you reload all of the apps back onto the phone? Sometimes, it is an app that is not getting along with the phone causing the rebooting. Not always, but often enough...
And if the "automatic restore back-up" setting is enabled, the problem you are attempting to solve might be restored as well.
Just some thoughts,

The worst thing that could happen would be that they tell you "No"...
