Quick Question regarding shipment of CPO Droid X

Received my CPO Droid X yesterday. Turned it on. All day, it shut off and rebooted itself, sometimes up to 10 times an hour. Did three factory resets throughout the day. Loaded NO apps. Continues to reboot constantly. Only way I can get it to NOT reboot is by setting the screen timeout to "never" and allowing it to sit with the screen on constantly.
Called Verizon last night. Said they would overnight me a new one that I would recieve via FedEX on Saturday.
My problem - I recieved the shipping notification and tracking shows the phone won't arrive until Monday. Problem is, I'll be out of town!
Can I go to a nearby Verizon Store to exchange this one, or is it too late since they've already sent the new CPO one? I'm quite irked that she said they would overnight it, yet it's still not going to arrive until Monday.
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like there might be an issue with your battery.
Just for the sake of eliminating possible issues try a factory reset. Sometimes CPO's are shipped without all the settings being reset to stock. As for the Saturday delivery, that's typical of FedEX, an overnight package will always deliver on Monday unless a Saturday delivery fee is paid.
No your local store cannot exchange the phone for you, even they would have to order a replacement phone via mail. You could try to contact VZW and have them ship the phone to the store for you.
Back to the battery. Did you give the phone an uninterupted 8hour charge with the wall charger before using it?
Also, just for the heck of it have you tried a battery pull reset? It's just where you remove your battery for a couple of seconds and replace it. In most of the cases I have heard of like your's, this fixes this issue. The rest turned out to be an issue with the battery itself.

This makes me nervous...I just got my CPO DX today and will be plugging it in tonight. I hope I don't have any issues with this phone or I will be really disappointed.

Since it's a CPO, I'd go straight away and do the factory reset on the device. Sometimes issues sneak through quality control, but for the most part these issues are caught.

Yes, I allowed the unit to charge for 8 hours. And as I said, I have done three factory resets to the unit already.
I just tried pulling the battery, as the first replier suggested - waited over a minute and then reinstalled and booted the phone. As soon as the screen times out, the phone reboots. Also cannot make a call on the device without it rebooting within seconds into the phone call.
Very frustrating. I usually *prefer* to get CPO, just because I know that the device went through the hands of a technician and was "quality tested." Since this one has been rebooting itself since the moment I turned it on, I'll have doubts about purchasing CPO's from now on.
Just for good measure, I'll do another factory reset. Any other tips or ideas I should try?

Go into Settings: About Phone and look at your Android Version. If it isn't 2.2.1 click on the System updates on that menu and it will download the current version. If you are up-to-date I'd swing into your local store and ask them to test the phone, battery and charger. Make sure you take your phone charger in and have them test both it and the battery.
You said it turns off when you make a call? Sounds like it may have a bad light sensor. To test it go to marketplace and download Z-Device Test, this is a free app and it will test all the phone's sensors. When you open the app it will test all of your sensors quickly. If Light sensor has a red X over it it failed the test, if it has a green check mark, open that menu and hold it under different light intensities to see if it detects a change. If no change the sensor is faulty and it's pretty likely that is what's causing your problems.

Okay - I checked the android version and it is up to date with 2.2.1.
I downloaded and ran the Z-Device Test. The items that have red X's are: Secondary Camera, Radio, and NFC. The light sensor seems to work fine and shows an increase in luxes when I point the phone at different areas of the room.
Phone continues to reboot, several times an hour. At this point, cannot even make a call. My husband called my phone and within seconds of answering it, the phone rebooted.

It sounds like someone messed with the phone's files then returned it as defective, unfortunately this is nearly impossible for Motorola to catch during CPO tests. You can see if your local store has the ability to reflash the phone on-site, but it's likely they will have to send it back to Moto.
I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues, and unfortunately without having the phone in my hands there isn't much more that can be done here.
When you factory reset your phone, how exactly are you doing this?

Are you doing the Factory Reset using "Boot in Recovery Mode" or "Hard Reset"? Frankly, I think you should try the "Recovery Mode Wipe" since this is a CPO. Try that 1st.
Here are those options (thanks Wildman).
Hard Reset: - Removes all personal data and sets device back to the stock state when you bought device...
1. Uncheck "Back up my data" under Settings/Privacy
2. Click Factory Data Reset/Reset Phone
3. After reset is complete only Active Phone but do not input Google Email information
4. Once phone is at homepage go back into Settings/Privacy and make sure the Automatic Restore option is unchecked, even if grayed out, activate "Back up my data" and quickly disable "Automatic Restore"
5. After being sure that the Automatic Restore option is off it will be safe to log into Google and you can continue installing preferred apps and custom settings.
Boot in Recovery Mode Wipe: - Wipes system configuration settings and loads default settings but keeps personal data saved on system, normally used to recover from a none boot status without loosing personal data. There is times that Personal Data gets wiped also with this process..
Power Device Off First.....
1. Hold Home Button and press power
2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with astrick
3. Let Go of Home Button and Power
4. Press Search Button (Far Left Button)
5. A blue menu will show at top of page, scroll to Format Device
6. Select Yes to verify
7. Allow format to complete (Information at bottom of page will go through a few steps)
8. Once Format is complete Blue Menu will show at top again, select Reboot

I don't see an option to "format device." These are the options I have:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Okay - here's a big update. Did both methods, wipe data/factory reset, first, then skipped everything during set up and turned off back-up data and auto updates.
Before I did anything else, I made a call. Called my husband. Was able to talk to him for 5+ minutes without a problem. Thought, wow, it worked. Next thing I did was run back-up assistant. ONce all my contacts were loaded, I called my husband again. Almost as soon as he answered, the phone shut off and reboot itself.

Have you tried running in SAFE MODE only for a while? just as a test ..?? (Sorry if you mentioned that earlier, I didn't go back thru the thread.)
Safe mode:
- Power Off
- Press and HOLD Menu button (far left button)
- while holding, press the Power up button, continue to hold MENU until it comes up.
Phone will come up saying SAFE MODE in lower left.
TEST
To get out of SAFE MODE, power off/on as usual.

In safe mode - made a call, phone did NOT reboot.
Will allow it to go to screen timeout and see what it does. Normally it reboots as soon as the screen times out.

FAIL.
While in safe mode, screen timed out and it IMMEDIATELY rebooted.

Sadly, replacement will not be here until Monday. IRRITATING! How this unit even passed QC is beyond me. I'm VERY disappointed.

It's weird. If I set the screen timeout to "never," it doesn't seem to have any trouble, except when I make or receive a call.
