Qwest Email - Can receive but can't send

I see that others are having similar issues; different carriers.

Anyone know what I need to do to make Qwest send?  What do my outgoing server settings need to be?  \

Any help is appreciated.

If you are trying to send/receive emails with Qwest you will need to contact them to get their incoming and outgoing server information to enter into your email application.

I have found some information. Hopefully this will help! :smileyhappy:

If your e-mail ends in @qwest.net:
  • Incoming Server = pop.mpls.qwest.net (or select one from the QWEST MAIL SERVER LIST) port 110
  • Outgoing Server = Use the same server name for both your outgoing and incoming server on port 25
If your e-mail ends in @qwestoffice.net:
  • Incoming Server: pop.qwestoffice.net (port 110)
  • Outgoing Server: smtp.qwestoffice.net (SSL enabled, requires authentication, port 465)

When I contacted Qwest for a solution, they said I needed to contact Verizon.  The kind of luck that I have with support, that answer really didn't surprise me.  It didn't solve my problem either.

I appreciate you help Morgan, however, my email ends with q.com. The incoming and outgoing info. that I have from qwest works on my Mac, my laptop, and my iPod.

Not the Droid.

Possibly you have another suggestion?

Thanks

Any luck with this?  We have two Droid X, and have tried 4 standard Qwest.Net POP email accounts on both - all receive but nothing sends - just gets stuck in the outbox.  VZN tech support just claims that if gmail & web work it must be a Qwest issue.  Supposedly something may have broke in the latest Android OS update but cannot verify.  These standard Qwest.net POP3 accounts work on every other client device I have tested - although typically MS Outlook on windows XP.

However the Droid X seems to work OK for send/receive on a Comcast POP account but really would like to get this fixed on the Qwest accounts.

I too have a q.com email and cannot get it to work with the standard DroidX email application.  I downloaded K9 email app and set it up and it works fine.  Here are the K9 settings for the incoming server.......pop3.live.com, SSL (always), port 995,  Out going server settings.... smtp.live.com, TLS (always), port 25, require sign in, Authentication type= plain.  Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem with my Droid X and my q.com email. Here's how I fixed it: simply uncheck Use Secure Connection and Verify Certificate for your Outgoing Server. Now it works just fine!

Just tried Dannyberg's fix on my Droid 2 for my q.com accounts and it works.  In Outgoing Server settings, uncheck "Use secure connection"  Thanks!

Yeah, that still didn't work. What port did you use for your outgoing mail? 25? Thanks.

Try setting your smtp port to 587. I was told that Verizon is messing with outgoing mail, attempting to cut down on spam. I was told to reset from port 25 to port 587. I did, and it seems to be working like a charm. I don't have Quest, but you might give it a try.

Same problem with the qwest.net accounts.  Cannot send, changing port or SSL settings makes no difference.  The Qwest help link referenced above simply lists supported and not-supported email clients.  As expected there is no reference to Droid - or any VZN Wireless supported devices for that matter.  I would rather not have to download a completely separate email application or use a web based interface when a POP email account should be easily supported by the built-in "Settings / Accounts" function.

I have the exact same problem.  Please let me know if you find a solution. I've tried all the suggestions here and nothing worked. Thanks.

It appears that there is still no resolution to this long standing issue for qwest.net email accounts.  There are similar posts about this issue on the DroidX forum as well.

I am having a similar problem with snet.net ,(old southern new england) addresses.  The Verizon techs didn't know the outgoing settings.  Does anyone out there know what they might be?  I will try snet (now att) as well.

thanks

I got the Droid 2 almost tw weeks ago.  I set up my q.com email address and was able to send and receive one email.  After that I could only receive.  I deleted the account, then set it up again using the settings mentioned in the ealier post, along with unchecking the boxes on the outgoing servers.  As of right now, I'm able to send!

These settings for qwest.net email accounts have never worked and still do not for Verizon Wireless Droid X systems.  Does anyone at Qwest no what the problem is?  Can anyone here actually confirm that they have outgoing mail working on a Droid X with a "qwest.net" account?

I second that comment. I've been tracking this discussion since I bought my X in August. Verizon blames Qwest and Qwest blames Verizon.  I hate to even say it, but one of them is not being honest and has sold us customers a bill of goods. I've tried every setting and nothing suggested works. At one point they said it would be fixed by the 2.2 OS but of course that did nothing. It's incredibly frustrating not to be able to use your own e-mail account. Can anybody say "class action?"
