Keyboard in text mode

I was just trying to send a text out and noticed the enter key was missing. It has been replaced by the smiley icon. It seems like it only happens when I'm entering text in the message area.
When I type in the recipients name I have the normal keyboard with the enter key. When I send E-mails or entering posts like this the keyboard is normal. I'm lost tried everything to get the enter key back. Any help would be appreciated.

You really don't need the enter key in text mode. You are given so many letters to type in per line and it automatically drops down to the next line. A lot of people like to use these emocons and this key helps you put in any mood you like. And you are correct, text mode is the only one that does this.

It has probably been like this all along but today I wanted to skip a row between sentences. That's when it hit me.

Have you tried hitting the space bar until it goes down a line? Really don't know if that will work since I don't text, but it's worth a try.

Hi mortb well I tried tapping the space bar  to leave the space. Doesn't seem to work.,and even if it did its just a cumbersome way to do it.

 I guess its showing mine and my friends ages. We still text using sentences with punctuation. Not too many abbreviations. Shame on us.
