Re-establish Network Connection

Whenever I exit from a train tunnel (while on the train), I rarely can re-establish a connection to the internet and phone service. The only way I can re-connect is to turn my phone off and on again. I even waited up 5 minutes to see if the phone will re-establish a connection. Nothing. I thought the phone is suppose to attempt to re-connect on it's own automatically?
Also, is there a way to force it re-connect without having to turn the phone off and on again?

The phone IS supposed to reconnect automatically however, it may be an issue with the train's speed or metal body, not sure what is going on there. Something you can try is cycling the mobile data. If you don't want to bother with going through the settings every time, add the power control widget to your homescreen and it can be done with two pushes of a button. Hope this helps but, like i said, this is supposed to happen automatically and you probably have some app or a setting getting in the way, you might want to do some trouble shooting, remove some unused apps, adjust some settings, maybe you'll find the real issue.

I did a search for a power control widget under Market and found a few with similar names. Is there a more specific name to search for and is it suppose to do one function?
I did do a clean install a few times. There does not seem to be a consistent behavior that would single out any one application on the Droid that could be causing problems.
Generally speaking, would you say this is a random but common behavior for the phone to act this way?
I also check the settings that the "kneekahliss" suggested. All the boxes are checked.

this might help...
ensure you've done a *228 option 2
menu > settings > data mgr > data delivery > make sure all boxes are checked
instead of power cycling try pressing power and turning on airplane mode...wait 15 seconds and turn it back off
