Verizon support services for repair are disappointing.
The red camera side button came off my Droid X. I've been slipping a cover on and off (so I can use my multimedia player) and I must have jarred it loose. It fell off and is lost. Connectors good, no damage whatsoever.
Called 611, told Emerald Square Mall, Massachusetts, was a repair facility. Called them. Was told they don't stock parts and could not order parts for Droid X.
I explained that all I needed was the "Motorola Droid X Camera Side Button Red". There is no damage whatsoever to the phone. It simply popped off and is lost. This is not complicated. Was told they would replace my phone and send mine back for refurbishment. Now that is just plain dumb!!!
In 10 minutes, I went online, searched for part and ordered it online for $9.95 from cellulardr.com.
BUYERS BEWARE!!! So glad I DID NOT purchase the warranty... I would have lost my apps and customization because it would not have been repaired, it would have been replaced.
I am posting this information to the forum so others will know what to expect from Verizon Customer Service. Don't expect much and if they can't fix a simple red cover (order the part and mail it to me!!) without replacing the phone..... you know you're dealing with a company that really doesn't care.

not really sure if you're complaining or what.
you replaced the part and didn't have any other issues but most folks dealing with the insurance/warranty need to have the phone replaced

I understand the concern, but on the same note the HTC Mogul from Sprint, when I took it into them for a keyboard button issue they had to send it off to HTC to replace because for some reason HTC would not give the stores tedh department and parts for device because they wanted only there repair guys to service it because the store was never trained to repair the device, Without knowing the level of tech support the stores repair person has this could be one of the reasons this happened... Now under this situation this is a bit extreme on store to make this situation a big issue.
One again I want to point out I agree and understand your point but other factors can come into play ubder situations like this escpecially since this has been a know issue in the past.
