Recent OS Upgrade Has Trashed My Phone

I had a perfectly good Droid phone before my upgrade to the new OS.  I might as well throw it in the trash now.  It is by far the buggiest release I have ever seen.  Who QAs this stuff - VZW/Motorola, get yourself another QA organization!

Best thing you can do is be specific about you problems. Generally complaints about QA don't help you or VZW.

I have something a little more descriptive about how 2.2 is not as nice as 2.1

1st We have the fact that the Silent mode has gone away.  You use to be able to set silent mode using the volume switch going to low volume then to vibrate then to silent.  This was actually a reason I bought my phone.  I keep it on vibrate at work, silent at night and on my weekends I keep the volume all the way up and vibrate.  But now it’s either Silent or Vibrate by using the volume switch.  Why would they take away a great feature?

2nd  How about the fact that task killer apps when you push the kill all feature or the kill all widget on your home page, that’s why it’s there, it will not kill media that is playing.  It won’t kill the music player, Slacker Radio or Pandora Radio.  OS 2.1 would but now it doesn’t.  And I have tried several task killers so if someone knows the one to use please let me know.  All I want my task killer to do is to be a widget on the home screen and when I push it all apps will be killed expect the ones I told to be excluded in the settings.

And 3rd, my biggest complaint is my 3G is slow and cuts in and out.  My streaming radio, Pandora or Slacker do not play properly.  Pandora only plays the audio at a lower level for slower connection speeds and it sounds like crap.  I thought to blame Pandora but on a 2.1 phone it sounds fine and the 2.2 it sounds like crap.  Slacker radio keeps pausing to buffer so the music sounds chopped.  I even thought it could be my phone so I did a speed test compare after factory resetting my phone "SpeedTest.net" and on the 2.1 OS phone I was suing the average speed was 1000kbps and on the 2.2 OS phone the average speed was 400kbps.  These were the average speeds of the tests.

Otherwise, the phone is not bad, the new email viewing is better, the Camera is way better and the Homepage is good.

I would like to see the problems I’m having be addressed and if anyone knows who I need to email to have these problems fixed let me know PLEASE!!!!!

I would love to go back to the stable 2.1.  That’s how frustrated with my phone I am.

@Dustin
There have been a number of complaints about the way the volume control works now. I quite like the way it works now, as it keeps me from going past vibrate to silent by accident. For your case it sounds like something like silence scheduler would work well for you.

A number of people have complained about how task killers work in 2.2 as well. The development team believes that task killers shouldn't be used on Android, and have changed how running tasks need to be killed.
I suspect that as the task killer developers hear about these issues they will change how they kill tasks. I'd advise you to communicate directly with one of the developers and explain how you are using it, as I expect that most people are using the to try and manage available memory, rather than an "end running stuff" app.

Streaming audio and 3G speed may not be related. The Android development team changed the way that streaming audio was decoded with 2.2 and assumed that application developers would update their applications to comply. They haven't, so there is a disconnect between the two. There are some fixes for tdoingbut they involve doing unsupported things to your phone and can't be discussed in detail here.
