I'd like to remove Backup Assistant from my Droid X. I see a "lock" icon on the Backup Assistant account line, and the "delete" box is grayed out in Application Manager. Is it possible to remove this application (without resetting my phone)?

Unfortunately, this is preinstalled software that can not be removed from the device without voiding the warranty.

Based on your answer, then how can I stop Backup Assistance from destroying my contacts. My full contact list has never backup and if not for Google I would have lost them twice in one week because of this backup assistance. This is something that is not need on my Android phone and I have a problem with your company placing on my phone with no way to remove it.
