I have seen this problem on other forums and I have yet to find a solution. The random text are sometimes are obviously very confusing for the ones receiving them.
Are there any solutions? I do not have any added text applications.

I can definitely understand how the text messaging issue can be frustrating. I did do some research regarding this matter but this is not a known issue in the resources that I have. I will PM you to get your mobile telephone so I can see what options we have for you. Thank you.

Handcent sms has a setting to prevent resend on on reboot.
Based on that I assume it is or was a known issue.

I am having the same issue. I have a brand new Droid X2 for almost a month now and the only thing verizon tells me to do is to reset to factory settings each time. Every time i reboot my phone it resends messages and people are getting irritated with me for the constant reset. I like to shut my phone off at night so it doesnt vibrate because there is no true "silent" setting on this phone.
Is there a fix for this ?

I've have the same problem with my droid X. It is very random! When I called support about this the 'tech' guy said to do a factory reset which we know won't fix the problem! I was told my phone is just wearing out and I need to upgrade to a new one B### S###! Between this problem and having to turn it off TWICE every night the I-phone is looking better all the time!!

Hi JustJim, I can understand that would be very frustrating to have your phone randomly send text messages after rebooting. One thing I would suggest first is to clear cache from your Messages application. This will not erase any of your current messages. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Messages>Force stop/Clear cache. Also, delete some old message threads that you no longer need. If possible, try to delete all. Then reboot your phone. Test to see if this resolves issue with phone resending your text messages. If the issue is still occurring after this, I would suggest completing a factory reset or using a 3rd party application for text messages and delete messages from your stock application.
Let me know if this helps!
