Roaming Data Keeps Unchecking

I moved from California to Alaska a few months ago and run on the Verizon Extended data network.  I updated my Droid 2 global OS last week.  The phone keeps saying I am roaming internationally. Never mind that Alaska is part of the USA. Before the update I enabled data roaming and everything was fine. Now the setting keeps resetting in low signal areas. I repeatedly have to turn data roaming back on.

I read that the Droid 3 also has this problem. Has anyone encountered this with the Droid 2 global?

Thanks,

Mark

I keep having the same problem since updating mine. No one at the Verizon store can figure it out either, sure is a pain in the .....

I also keep getting a message that I am roaming internationally and may incur higher charges.

If anyone knows what to do about this, please help us!

I'm getting this too.  They replaced the phone and I was going to wait on the update, but it downloaded and kept nagging me to install.  Stupidly I did.  now this phone is having the same issue as the original.

I know this has been a frustrating experience, repeatedly loosing the data connection on your Droids!

I would like to address all those who have posted in this forum, and to the rest of the Community.  This issue with Data Roaming has been lifted up to our Product Support Team, and they are working diligently to provide a permanent fix with the next software update.

I just spent very frustrating 30 minutes on the phone with Verizon and Motorola about this issue. Apparently, it was done by Motorola on purpose as part of the "Gingerbread" software because a lot of customers weren't realizing they were data roaming and were charged large amounts of money that Verizon had to credit back. So, people like us, who actually try to use the hardware/software as intended have to suffer because of stupidity of the others. Motorola representative told me that they'll escalate it to their developers to see if they can have a patch that would address it. Verizon manager also told me that they'll try to escalate to their own development team to see what options they have. In any case, as it stands right now, the issue is with Motorola (however, something tells me they did this "feature" based on Verizon's request). So, keep on pushing Motorola and Verizon, maybe they'll address it finally.

As Romanper mentioned,it is maybe a feature as VZW required. Normally, the checkbox shouldn't be uncheck automaticlly if we set it. I think the reason maybe is  that you moved away from a roaming place. In this case, in order to avoid that user forget that the data roaming is opened next time. The phone turn off data roaming automatically.

That is just my thought.
