The first recommendation would be to remove and re-add the email account (*article below for instruction).

http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=31384

In readding the email account, you can try the following steps below in setting it back up:

Step 1: From your home screen or application screen click on the Mail icon
Step 2: Select “Other (POP3/IMAP)”
Step 3: Enter your email address and password in the “New account” screen
Step 4: Select “Manual setup” at the bottom of the screen
Step 5: Select “IMAP” from the Protocol drop down menu
Step 6: Enter your email address (yourname@aol.com), after that is complete enter your username and password (***Please note*** Do not put your email address as your username)

Step 7: Use these server settings for the next 3 “incoming settings”, then click next

  • IMAP server: imap.aol.com
  • Security type: None
  • Server port: 143

Step 8: Use these server settings for the “outgoing settings,” then click next

  • SMTP server: smtp.aol.com
  • Security type: SSL (if present)
  • Server Port: 587

Step 9: If a notification pops up and offers you the option to hit continue, hit continue
Step 10: Finished!

Hope this helps!

E-mails which I send from my work e-mail on my Droid 2 (Global) do show up in their sent box.

AOL E-mails which I send from my Droid 2 do not show up on either my Droid's sent folder, or on AOL online sent e-mail.  However, the e-mail is received by the recipient.

Does anyone know if AOL or Verizon is working on this, or how we might formally report this problem so they know to work on this?

You can always bcc yourself. I do just to be on the safe side.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
