See this eBay site re Samsung Charge i510 betteries.

Has any one tried one of these 3500 mAh batteries?

I ask because the Charge phone user manual says that a non-standard battery will NOT work in the i510.  My phone came with a Samsung battery 1600 mAh so I bought an 1800 mAh NON-standard battery and it worked fine, no problems.  Now I have a 2600 mAh Samsung battery and it really helps but with a smart phone "you can never have to much battery capacity" and you can quote me on this!

Has anyone tried one yet?   Do you think it might hurt the phone?

Dear JerryF,

I guess the two issues to consider are whether the battery will damage the phone and whether the Samsung USB cable and plug adaptor will charge the battery.

As to the first, it sounds like you already tried one non-supported battery and it worked. Maybe the second will too. I have not specific experience with non-supported batteries, so this is a pure guess.

Good luck and I hope it works out.

MORE INFO RE BATTERIES:  Yesterday I connected my i510 to my Wife's laptop using the USB port and immediately received a message saying that it could not charge the battery because it was NOT an approved battery.  This was strange because my battery is an official Samsung battery (2600 mAh).  It is blue and says Samsung all over it.

So I  decided to install the Samsung official i510 driver into her laptop.  Surprise, after the driver was installed I no longer receive the message that it could not charge the phone's battery because it was an unapproved battery.

RE the 3500 mAh batteries for the i510.  I sent quesions to two sellers in Hong Kong.

One seller "gms4world" said they tested the 3500 mAh battery in an i510 and it worked.  The other seller "Favorite444" said that it does work.  I wonder???  Remember, you can never have to much battery capacity.

WCMACK,

Actually my Samsung 2600 mAh battery is working great.  I love it and recommend one to all who have a Charge phone.

In my case, I just want more "horsepower" or should I say more mAh battery capacity.  BTW, the extra 1/4 inch thickness makes the phone easier for me to hold in a "secure" fashion so there is less chance of the phone slipping out of my hand.

Hopefully, if the link works, the following web site will show you my Samsung Charge with the 2600 mAh battery and how the extra thickness changed the way I hold it.

JerryF,

Followed the link OK and saw your post, but the referenced pictures were not accessible. Good luck with the bigger battery!

They said that they tested it and it worked so I did order one to try.  If it doesn't I'll toss it out.  It's nice that they include a new phone back too.   I'll keep you folks posted.

It will be at least another week until I get it because it is coming from Hong Kong and after arrival they recommend 12 hours for the initial charge.  Lucky I have a separate wall plug charger.
