Screen blockage in Browser

Hello to all,
I have a Droid X that has been working properly until today. I open the browser on the phone and a page comes up with the address. Then just before the page totally opens a blank white screen covers the original page. At first a small ad would come up on the white screen but now nothing shows on the blank white screen. Is there a reason or a way to remove the screen? Any help will be gratefully appreiciated.

Thanks to all that replied. I did the update to the phone and that cleared the problem. I will keep the other methods in mind in case it happens again. Thanks

Are you referring to the browser homepage, Google? Or, every page that opens?
If you are talking about the stock browser homepage (Google), try manually typing another web address (cnn.com for example) and see if that page will load.
Maybe you inadvertently changed your homepage from Google to another (non-mobile site) that is giving the browser problems.
If so, you can go back and change your homepage back to Google, or whatever you like.
If I am way off, that's all I can think of. Good luck.

Did you change your POPUP Blocker settings ? Which Browser are you using?

Thank you to the community for all the suggestions! I would recommend clearing out the cache and performing a force stop under Settings>Applications>All>Browser. Also, pop out the battery with the phone powered on for about 10 seconds, then re-boot. These steps will fix the browser issue.
