Selecting the wrong person from text message list

If I want to send a message to a contact I have previously sent one to or previously received one from my phone doesn't always select the right person. What I mean is if I select a person from the list of contacts in my "text message list" I will tap that persons name but then my DROID will pull up some other random contact ...it does this all the time.  Am I missing some update?  

Are there updates that we need to manually install on our DROIDS or do they do them automatically?

You haven't missed an update. I'm having the exact same issue and occasionally a problem with my phonebook jumping around all crazy. I was also getting the low space warning but deleted a bunch and switched things to SD...phone is a little less quirky now. But heading to Verizon next week if no suggestions are made.

Try wiping off the optical joystick, it can cause all sorts of funny and unintended things to happen. Goto display settings and calibrate the screen as well.

There is a known bug reported and acknowledged. Until a fix is obtained (which may be a long while or never if we dont get upgraded!), they say that if you wait until all messages load and then choose the person you wish to message, you will not observe this issue. Personally, I have not had an issue yet, but I've been more patient with my messages app loading up!
