When I try to send a text message with Google Voice, the new line symbol on the key board (bottom right corner of the keyboard) changes to a weird 🙂 character but only when I am in the body of the text, it is OK in the the address line. It has been suggested that I i try not filling in the address line when I compose the message but that didn't work. Any ideas?

It's been debated over and over ad infinitum whether text messages need formatting or not. The only reason for a newline is to format text messages. I'm of the old school, just type in a text message and send, no formatting. The "weird :-)" is an emoticon denoting what it sounds like, emotions. In this case a smile.
