Since GB Update having strange BT issues.

Did the GB update two days ago and so did my wife who has the same model. Since then if either of us is using a BT ear piece and a text comes in not only is there a different alert signal in the earpiece but after three seconds the BT drops the audio, it switches back to the handset and yet still shows as connected on the phone. You have to physically disconnect the earpiece and reconnect it for it to work again.  Though we have the same handsets, my wife and I use two different models of earpiece.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue both in the car and on my Plantronics Bluetooth, but I think it was happening even before the last update.  This Bluetooth is new and worked flawlessly on my DROID Pro (the car was fine with the DROID Pro too).

I also have noticed that when the BT is connected it will flash "Bluetooth Connected" on the display but after I get a text and the audio switches back to the handset the message changes to "earpiece and speaker connected".  I go to the phone display, select audio output to the handset then select the bluetooth again and it will reconnect with the bluetooth and the display will indicate the same.

Anybody have any ideas??

NicotineJ and Sethh, thanks for your inquiries and bringing this issue to my attention. I checked and I do see other employees have reported this issue since Gingerbread was released. This has been reported to our product team and HTC, and we are currently investigating to develop a resolution.

I see that this issue was reported on 7/27/11 which makes it about 3 weeks ago.

I just received a Droid Incredible 2 from Verizon and really love the phone, it beats my previous phone by a few miles ( Droid X) however, this issue with Bluetooth is very aggravating, I have a problem with the nerve in my elbow which prevents me from holding a phone to my ear for any length of time, 5 minutes is a stretch, yet when I look through VZW's portfolio of devices, there is little else that I want to use.

I do not want another Moto phone until Google gets them straightend out, the problems with the 2.3 updates are atrocious, and the devices lock up one of the Wifi access points in my home ( we are still dealing with a Droid 2 that does this). I really like Sense and the obscene battery life I'm getting. So, even though the Thunderbolt would be nice, the lack of battery life would be a show stopper, as I work in Civil Service and rely on my phone for backup communication( also no 4g in my area) .

I don't really know what to do as I have live through the last several weeks with a completely broken phone in the Droid X, then the DInc2 comes in like a savior to all my needs, except the Bluetooth issue. I guess I'm looking for some direction on what to do. I don't want to call VZW CS as they will insist that I take another Dinc2 and it has been show here and in the HTC forum that the issue is not a hardware problem.  I am 5 CPO phones deep in the mess and I'm looking for a permanent fix, not another ride through several more.

Any assistance or direction would be appreciated, even a ballpark estimate on the arrival of a patch, cause if I had that I could justify getting a wired headset to use in the vehicles.

Just got off the phone with an HTC rep.  According to them this has been a known issue for about 3-4 weeks and a fix should be out soon.  Problem with that is with android "soon" often gets stretched into months.... :smileysad:

Thank you everyone, we do not have a date yet on the resolution but have been advised this issue will be addressed in the next maintenance release for this phone. Once we have an official date we will communicate that info.

I am having the same issue.  It is very frustrating.  In order to drive “hands free” I have to have my Bluetooth.  I came pretty close to rear ending someone because I was trying to get an important phone call back to my ear piece after a text sent the voice back to the phone.  I went to Verizon today hoping that they could help.  The man sent me home to backup my device and photos and try doing a “Factory Data Reset” through the SD Card & Phone Storage in settings.  He told me an “app” might be the culprit.  After running through this I ran a test and sure enough, still broken! They are sending me a new Incredible 2 but even the woman behind the counter said it most likely will not help, I will have to wait for an update.  I wish Verizon would fix this as it is not only driving me INSANE, it is also unsafe to deal with while in the car. HELP VERIZON, HELP!!!
