Slide Unlocking

When sliding the unlock feature on my X it seems to be very slow and jerky. My wife has the Incredible and it is a lot smoother and more responsive. Does anyone else have the same issue and if so is there a fix for it? I figured this is a simple operation and it should not be an issue on a premium phone! Thanks for any input.

I had the same issues when I first got my Droid X.  The problem is many apps and programs stay running in the background.  A good task killer should help.  There is also an issue with the sensitivity of the touch screen weakening with some protective screens.  I finally got feed up with mine and removed my $20 protective screen.  Also the touch screen can act funny if there are smudges on it.

2.2 Froyo definitely introduced the slow/jerkiness ...   Mine was very very fast under 2.1  ...   I also agree with previous poster that it seems to have a lot to do as to what is running on the phone when you slide to unlock. For instance, after an initial reboot, mine is particularly slow if I don't let things "finish" in the background before my initial unlock.  As far as "Auto task Killers" ... well there seems to be a lot of argument about whether they create/introduce more problems than they fix ...  I personally do not run it on mine ... I have a lot of apps that I downloaded over the last 8 weeks. I *NEVER* have unexpected  hangs, reboots, or battery pulls. I just tend to let the OS do it's job in swapping things as needed.  YMMV

Thanks for the suggestions so far. From day one my X has had this problem, it's not a huge issue but annoying none the less. Just seems like the X should have smooth operation on this simple task. Every other function on the touch screen runs great with no lag. Maybe the "geniuses" at Verizon or Moto can help? Then again maybe not........

I have never had a single issue related to my task killer program.  I have it set to only kill applications and not system processes.  The phone will automatically restart any apps that are setup for regular data downloads etc.

I also had this issue before 2.2 update.

Do you have problems with the trace feature of the swype keyboard as well?  I've noticed if my fingers are oily the unlock key and the swype feature don't follow the trace properly.  Just for the heck of it, try washing your hands with a non-moisturizing soap.  Dry them completely and then see if it causes any difference in the response of the phone.

Another trick to try is to go into your Settings menu, then battery and change it to the Performance mode.  Let me know if you get any results at all from these.

I have gave uo on the stock slider because I believe it to be so limited and simple, I perfer WidgetLocker myself, it runs smooter and is way more customizable.
