My NE2 isn't up till April of 2011. Our 2nd line is up in August 2010. At one point, I wanted the opportunity to purchase an ERIS when it was $199.00. I would have gladly paid that, 2 months ago. Went to the store and begged....called on the phone...and begged. BEGGED AND BEGGED AND BEGGED!! Nope...have to pay FULL retail price...nothing we can do...your NE2 is up in April 2011...2nd line is up in August we can do something then...you can add a line...you all know the spiel...
Anyway, so I get an email yesterday that I can get a MOTO Droid for $199.00, on either of my lines. I just saw in one of the other VC Communities forums about certain areas in the North East and CA being able to upgrade to 3G smartphones as long as they don't have a smartphone already, are in specific areas and haven't activated or changed their service in the past 6 months among other things. Requires a new 2 year commitment obviously.
Incidentally, I'm glad I didn't get the Droid...I am now holding out for either the Nexus One or the Incredible. But what gives with all of a sudden letting me upgrade...when not more than 3 or 4 weeks ago, the answer was no??

Verizon decided to run an early upgrade promo that wasn't in effect at the time you were making your request.

And Customer Service Reps don't know what's coming down the pike before hand. If they did, they couldn't tell you.
