Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with their phone after the software update? Ever since the update none of my apps work and have to be force closed, a lot of my contact information was erased or strangely not linked anymore, ringtones were changed and or missing, and now my phone seems to shut off whenever it feels like it.
Is there anyway to fix this without having to remove and redowload my apps? I have had the phone since it came out and have never had issues until now. Help?? Suggestions??
Thanks

No fix so far ...or atleast nothing I have heard.
I am having a few problems since the update as well
1) When the music is playing on the HTC music player and the ringer is on silent, the music continues to play when receiving an incoming call (the music stopped when receiving an incoming call before the software release) HTC stated this is a known issue
2) No longer receiving AOL emails automatically (set to retrieve every 15 minutes) I only receive them when I open the mail app and refresh manually
3) When on a phone call, my Backup Assistance sync kicks in and when it does, I cannot hear the person I am talking to (although the person on the other end can hear me) After pulling the battery, Gmail sync kicked in and the same thing happen. Had to turn off all my auto syncs.
Other issues consist of more lag when navigating thru the phone, browser is much slower (probably due to having 1X much more often now when I was consistently at 3G) when pages load on the browser, oftens blackouts, apps are slower amongst other functions on the phone that have decreased overall.
I started noticing these immediately after the software update and was sent a NEW phone from Assurion on 11/17/10 after battery pulls and factory resets did not help, and when activated, was prompted with the software update which I installed and experienced the same issues.
What is left to say ....the phone is garbage now. The phone requires so many tweeks and adaptive settings in order to function properly, making the 'enhancements' of the phone useless. Ever since 2.2 the phone has been just trash!
I miss 2.1

Sorry ...went on a little venting spree there.
Well if you call Verizon or HTC, all they will tell you is to first, pull the battery while the phone is still on and if that doesnt work, do a factory reset.
HTC has convinced Verizon a battery pull and/or factory reset will do it. It might help your issues ...but it didnt help mine. Guess we will have to wait for another 'fix' and hope it doesnt screw anything else up on the phone. I am not sure what the purpose of this update was anyway ...other than having more apps start up automatically that you cannot permanently kill or uninstall. Now, I have counted 10 applications that start up automatically that you cannot kill without them starting up again once a phone call is made, or the browser is used. What a bummer!

No thank you for your replies. No need to apologize it just really frustrating! I am missing 2.1 right now too...like I said before I have never had problems until now. I am having similar issues with having 1X instead of 3G the majority of the time and I live In Los Angeles not out in the middle of Montana.
I will try the battery thanks for the suggestion!

Good Luck!
I just encountered another issue ...my home key no longer works as it did before. Whenever I am in any app I usually hit the Home key to back to the home screen and now the screen just blinks. Now, I have to back all the way out. The up side to that is you have to properly exit the app instead of hitting the Home key and allowing the app to continue to run ...but this was not mentioned as a change/enhancement so I am not sure if its a bug or working as designed?
Can a VZW rep reply?

If the apps are not working you may need to remove and install the apps again. Try doing a hard reset ion the device.
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.
If the preferred method is not available, there is an Alternate Method.
- From the home screen, select the applications tab (located in the lower-left).
- Select Settings.
- Select SD & phone storage.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Select the reset option.
- Reset phone
- Resets the phone
- Reset phone & Internal storage
- Resets the phone and the internal storage
- Select Erase Everything.

That is a unacceptable solution to a big screw up on your part. This update has made half my phone useless and losing my contacts and call history is a REAL annoyance. I depend on this phone for business use. What the hell kind of QA let this go to production?????
BIG FAIL.

This is a terrible solution. Verizon and HTC need to get the problem fixed in another manner. This is obviously a software issue causing all of these problems and to have to start over because an update was bad is simply ridiculous!

I had the same problem with my apps not working etc. I have my apps backed up on App Brain so I did a factory reset. Took me awhile to put everything back where I had it but now the phone works great and no problems.
