On the Droid X is there a way to silence all sounds without turning off the device? If I go through "settings" to turn off sound, that only turns off the ringer, but the media and alarms sounds are still active.

Simply hit the power button until the pop up menu shows itself. You will have three choices, one of them being "Silent Mode." Simply tap on that and all sounds will be silenced. To turn the sounds back on, simply repeat the process.

When you are looking at the lock screen instead of swiping it right to unlock swipe it to the left. That will silence the phone. When you want sounds again swipe it to the left again.
