Hi, I'm new to forum. I would like to learn all I can about programming, modifying and messing with cell phones ( Droid X would be my preference but would like to learn all). Is there books, a site or anything else that I can buy to learn more? Getting my Droid early next week, I'm a bit excited can you tell!

poke around there and you will find a lot of information on Android. If you do not know any programming, I would suggest taking a class at your local college to learn the basics of programming. The information at this link is for people that understand programming.
I guess I didn't explain what I wanted to learn correctly. I would like to learn about how to set up, configure, root, and mess around with cell phones (Droid X).

To do those things, you will need to do an internet search for that. We cannot explain here because the forum moderators will remove the information before you can see it.
The owners manual is on the verizon site for download. That will help with the setup part.
Be advised that rooting your phone will nullify your warranty on the phone.
Thanks for info and explaining your reasoning behind your answer. I would like to learn these things not necessarily do things to my phone.
