Speech-to-Text Issue

I can't use the speech-to-text option to send out a text message. Whenever I try to send a message to the person, when I speak their name it puts nothing in the TO field, but the whole message in the body of the text message. Example:

TO: ____________

Message: To moms cell I love you.

In addition I can't even select the TO or SUBJECT field to even try speaking the person's name. It doesn't even let me use the speaker to record the rest of my message. So if I wanted to send a long text message I'd have to say it all at once. When speech-to-text message screen is up and I try pressing down the "speaker button" it just stays shaded, but nothing records and all I can do is press cancel and it gets rid of the message.

This is the second Droid Charge I have gotten because the first one the speaker went out, but when I tried this same action on the first phone it did the same thing.

The speech-to-________ works fine with Google search, directions, but fails at sending an email, text , and composing a note. Once I stop speaking, I can't talk and add more to it. I've played with the voice setting from very slow to very fast. I've gone into the store asking associates and they basically did what I did, but wasted 30mins of my time to tell me what I already knew.

Have you figured out your issue with this.  I am having the exact same problem.  Frustrating to say the least.

No, I haven't figured it out as of yet.  I was hoping someone on here could help.  Like I said, I can do everything else (ie: Navigation), but the texting part does not work.  It is frustrating.

I was able to reproduce your issue with the Samsung Charge. When using the Speech-To-Text option, you will need to speak:

"Send Text (persons name)", then wait to their name is entered into the TO field and then speak your message . It will error out if you speak  "Send text To (Persons name)".
