Status Bar Won't Pull Down!

The status bar at the top of my screen will not respond when I try to pull it down. It will become responsive for a few hours and then becomes unresponsive for days at a time. Has anyone ever had this problem? Does it indicate a dying phone?

Icons still appear on the status bar & disappear once satisfied, i.e.., the email icon shows up when I receive a new email and goes away once the email has been checked. I have restarted the phone numerous times and have tried different methods of trying to pull the screen down. Nothing has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you shut your phone down occasionally? I shut down once a day and reboot, just to reset everything.

Yea, I try to reboot daily. It has not been successful in remedying the problem.

Have you tried from another screen other than the home screen that allows the landscape mode?? Such as messaging or email program?

Ok, using it in landscape mode works. This is strange. I just tried it in the messaging & gmail screens & it works fine when turned to it's side. However, it is still unresponsive when tried as a portrait.

Is this an indication that the touch screen itself may be faulty?

I doubt it. What about from any of the other 6, 'Home' screens? Any luck? Press on the bar until you see a gray bar appear then drag.

When I got my phone in April, I had a heck of a time trying to get the Notification bar to pull down from the main home screen, but any of the other 6 screen home screens not an issue. Then one day it has worked ever since.

It's not working from any of the other screens either, only works when turned horizontally.

Also, I have a game that has a "new game" button in the top right corner of the screen where the Status Bar would be if it was showing. When playing on a vertical screen, I am unable to use the "new game" button. However, when playing horizontally, the "new game" button works fine.

Did the bar work prior to the game being installed?

Try a battery pull while the phone is on, wait a minute or so and reinstall and power up.

And I know this will not work, but it can't hurt either call *228 choose option 1.

There used to be a screen calibration tool before 2.2, but now you only get it if you do a master reset. Because it sounds to me where you are touching the screen is not recognizing. Just as an FYI, I just noticed when I swipe down, I start at the Verizon symbol above the bar.
