Straight to voicemail

I just purchased my Droid Charge a few days ago.  I noticed today that numbers that, on my Motoral Droid, were set to be sent straight to voicemail no longer did so.  I attempted to reset these numbers to be sent straight to voicemail when they call, only to find that this option was not available on my Charge.  Am I just an idiot that is missing something, or is this option really lacking from this phone?  I found a post on another forum giving some "directions" as to where to find this option, but I, along with everyone else on that forum did not have the specified "options."  Please HELP!  Thank you.

I use Google Voice instead of the native VZW voicemail. However, I have played around with the contacts app and don't see any way to set a particular contact for "voicemail-only" when they call. Sorry; hope you find a better answer than this one.

Thank you, me too.  I guess I thought that it was just a pretty standard feature on smart phones these days.  Silly me, I guess.

As I said I hope you get some help on this.

If not, this is one of the vexing things about the Android OS.  Different manufacturers can implement the Android platform in different ways, so your experience can vary between phones.  Here you were comparing the features in the Android system as implemented by Motorola with those in a Samsung phone.  You would think they would be the same, but the manufacturers can pick and choose how they implement the OS; that's the weakness of an open system vs. one like iOS, that Apple keeps closed and proprietary.

Once again, good luck.

WCMack is right about Google Voice.  It will give you the option of doing what you want to do.  GV is free and you can set it up as your visual voice mail on the Charge and eliminate the $2.95 montly charge for VZ VVM.  GV also translates voice to text and can send you an email / text with a transcript of your voice mails.  It isn't always completely accurate, but you usually get a good idea what the message is if you don't have time to listen to it.
