Stuck on mobile network turning on

I did a hard reset on my Incredible and the mobile network is not connecting. It is stuck at "turning on" and is grayed out. The girl at the store was on with support for over an hour trying to get it to work. They said they would send me a "like new" Incredible. I've read on some other forums about people succesfully fixing this issue by having the Verizon tech support person remove the data plan on the account and then adding it back on.

Has anyone else had any experience with this?

I'm a little hesitant to take their "like new" phone and return mine. My phone is in good shape but the lady said that if there was damage to it that I would be charged $299! Seems kind of questionable that I can't get my old phone back if they deem it to have excessive wear and tear.

K. Look for a yellow envelope in the upper right hand corner in a few.

If you reset the phone, did you reactivate the phone afterwards? Dial *228, option 1 in a location with native Verizon towers.

Also you can try turning on airplane mode for a minute. Then turning it off. This will restart the radios.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yes, I have extensive experience with this. :smileysad:

I am afraid to ask, do you have an Alltel plan?

I can offer you things to look at to see if you need to do some manual updating, only if you are comfortable doing so

Let me know

I was on an Alltel plan when I bought the Incredible. When I bought the Incredible, I switched to a Verizon plan. Any information you have would be appreciated.

The solution that budone sent me worked. Thank you so much!

I'll be sending their "like new" phone straight back to them. I will also be emailing them to let them know that I got my problem resolved through a forum post rather than there support people.  :smileyvery-happy:

Another satisfied customer..... Too bad VZW reps and techs don't seem to know the  solution.

FYI Invoice is in the mail!   :smileyvery-happy:

If you just set up for the replacement phone, you can call into tech support and have the order pulled. I did that when I solved my problem.

The replacement phone is already on route. I called and emailed them to let them know that I would be refusing delivery.

Any way I can get a copy of this too. Same issue and it's driving me crazy. Restoring it was a waste of time, unfortunately.

Im also having the same problem.  Verizon is sending a 'new' phone.

I got into this after doing a factory reset.  I had been having numerous spurious reboots.  They were occuring primarily while accessing the data network.  I would have the phone/weather app on the main screen freeze (time stops advancing and no weather updates).  I did the reset and now Im stuck with no data connection.  I have 4-5 bars of signal but no '3G' indication.  Cannot call the phone or dial out from the phone.  When I dial,  I get a message saying number has change or not in service.

Verizon had me do multiple resets, battery pulls, etc... but to no avail.

dskeener,

Thanks for posting, and sorry you had to experience the issue with your Incredible rebooting and loosing 3G!  Please let us know if you are still experiencing any signal or rebooting issues with your replacement.  I am here to assist!

budone-Are you at all able to share your fix publicly?

The only reason I ask is because maybe it will help my peers or others that come to this forum with the same issue.

Although we have technical support representatives, we may not have all of the fixes for all of our devices.

Tamara, I had totally forgot I was asked (I think by Adam) this a couple weeks ago when I was at the lake and even though I can get a great 3G signal, it only lasts a minute and drops and I got fed up trying to send it.

I will PM the info to you first. Then y'all can decide if it should be given out. It is easy to brick the phone, but a master reset will get ya back to square one again.....

Look for it in a few

I had a problem with my incredible 2 where I couldn't send or receive MMS and I couldn't connect to the network; I could only get on the internet with wifi. When I went into my settings I could never check the box that gives you the option to connect to the network when there is no wifi available.  I dialed *228 and selected option 1 to program my phone, then my phone rebooted, and thankfully I can connect to the network again and send MMS. 🙂

What I helped the OP with has nothing to do with tethering your phone to your computer. They did not have any data connections at all. You will need to subscribe to the $20/2GB tethering-hotspot option.

I am having a similar issue with mobile network turning on and staying grayed out.  Yesteday started going in and out of 1x and 3G but never staying in 3G.  Would your solution work for me as well?

Most likely. Look for a PM from me. (There will be a yellow envelope in the upper right hand corner)

I'm having the exact same problem. It just up and started on its own with no apparent reason.
