Sudden Problems

Now I have heard all the problems that people have been having with dropped calls with the Charge, and never really experienced them until last night. On a phone call....call dropped. I call the person back and it dropped again. It did this 4 more times. I had never dropped a call with this phone before so thought it was odd. This morning on a call and the same thing started happening. Dropped 3 times. Also, my phone suddenly froze and had to pull out the battery and reboot. I have had the issue with the dropped data and went to the Verizon store and they said I had to prove it to them for them to do anything. Of course with as much as I tried, could not get it to drop. The rep told me that I could try to put it through the insurance but if the insurance company could not get it to duplicate, then I would get stuck with a large bill for the full retail price of the replacement phone. So needless to say, that scared me off in doing anything about it. Another problem that I have experienced that I have not heard anyone else complain about is when I use my phone as a gps while it's plugged in, it over heats. Why would they offer a feature like this that you can't use while it's plugged in? Certainly on a long trip if I don't plug it in, the battery will die. This phone is just starting to aggravate me and it seems that they used a scare tactic on me to prevent me from doing anything about it.

Mean_Streak,

Your battery may have been VERY low (20% or less) when it dropped the calls but by the time you arrived at the VZ store it was well charged.  Keep your phone BUT also keep the battery charged.

If you are at home, at work, or in your car plug it into a charger.  It will NOT hurt your battery to give it many short charges because it is a Lithium Ion battery.

On the othet hand, maybe your phone was on a "mean streak."  Just Kidding!

Jerry,

Thanks for your reply.

However, my battery when this happened was at least more than 75% charged last night and over 90% charged this morning. I always plug my phone in when I have an opportunity to, driving home, driving to work, whenever I can. I very rarely let it get below 50%. I do believe that this phone is developing a "mean streak"...LOL!!

My girlfriend has a charge also and she runs into dropped calls all the time. It just seems to be an issue with this phone. Hers has had the dropped call issue for some time and she is getting frustrated also. Data drops, overheating when using it as a GPS, freezing up....it's just aggravating. Especially when you go to Verizon and tell them the issues that are happening and they say "prove it" and your phone is not acting up right then and there. I have read some of your posts and it seems that you may have gotten lucky with a good phone. I thought I was lucky too, until the past 2 days. You pay good money for these phones and you just want them to work right. Again, I do appreciate your feedback on this. Unfortunately, a low battery has not been the case.
