Sync Issue

Around 5PM yesterday, my phone lost all of it's contacts, which are backed up through my gmail account. When I went to my accounts on my phone to make sure it was syncing properly, there was a message at the bottom of the screen stating that sync is currently experiencing problems and will be back shortly. However, my e-mail is working just fine - I still have access directly to my gmail account and receive notifications when I have a new e-mail in my inbox. It seems as though my e-mail would not be linked to my phone if there was a syncing issue, but I do not have any contacts showing up - even though they are still there when I look them up in my gmail account from a computer. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? Is it an issue with Verizon or is it my phone?

Try going into Account & Sync, select your gmail account and then uncheck the box beside contacts and recheck it.
