I got my Droid a few days ago. The folks at the Verizon Store told me I could sync my Outlook data with the included USB cable and dock similar to the process for syncing my Q with Active Sync. I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I realize I shouldn't have left the store without the procedure, but I assumed there was software included in the box for this. I haven't been back to the store to talk to the tech that gave me that information because of the Christmas rush and wait time at the store.
The on-line Droid manual PDF says to use Google Calendar to sync with Outlook and then push the data to the Droid. Turns out Google Calendar won't sync with my Outlook (XP). Keeps returning an error that Google Calendar only supports Outlook 2003 and Office 7 and my version is 10.x.x
The only other method mentioned in what I read on line is to use an Exchange server, which I don't have and won't pay for.
It seems impossible to me that such a cool devise offers no way to easily sync with Outlook through the USB, Blue Tooth or Wi-Fi connections. Am I missing something obvious? Or did Moto/Google/Verizon overlook this essential process?
I love the Droid! It's solid, fast, has a slick interface and lots of free apps. But if I can't find someone to walk me through an easy sync process, the Droid is useless to me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
