Syncing Droid with Car Bluetooth

Just bought a Droid X2.  I have synced my Droid to my 2011 Hyundai Sonata, but the sync did not add all of my contacts in my phone book.  For example, I'll say "Call Ryan" and my bluetooth will ask me to say again, number not found, or repeat another contact name.  However, if I use my contact list on my phone, the call will process through my bluetooth with no problem.  I had a Samsung Rogue before and had no problems syncing it to my car.  Also, how do I change how the name is displayed on my display screen of my car?  Instead of showing "John Doe" like it did with my Rogue, but now it'll show "Doe John."  I hope this isn't too confusing.  Any help is appreciated!

Hi aprice523,

As a note added to what was stated, most Bluetooth cellular phones should have some functionality with the Hyundai Bluetooth system. However, due to differences in phone quality, service providers and Bluetooth chip programming, functionality may differ from one phone to another. Please contact Hyundai for information on which devices sync with your vehicle here.

It sounds like the voice command option in your vehicle imports the data to unit and then the voice command is activated from the unit instead of the phone because if the info is on device and it works fine with a regular bluetooth but not with vehicle the two devices are not talking in the same language.  Each device requires a curtain method of communication, its like installing a new hardware on a pc without the correct drivers, the unit may work but not everything will work because of the missing data.

Unless you can update car units firmware to support all the functions you may not have any luck getting that to work correctly.

Now as for the the names, how is the names listed on the device? There is a option Phone / Contacts Tab / Menu / Display Option / Sort List By option...  You can select First or Last Name but I am not sure this will effect radio data.

That makes a lot of sense.  I'm hoping that there is an easier solution, but we'll see.

As for the contact display options, they are set up as first name first, so it could be something with the bluetooth in my car.
