Text Messages Deleted

Hi,

I was deleting old text messages, and when I decided to delete a thread, my phone locked up and said that it had to force quit the messaging application. This has happened to me before, and nothing bad ever came of it. But this time, when I opened up my messaging app, ALL of my text messages were gone....they totaled well over 1000 and some of them were really important. Is there anything I can do to retrieve them, or are they gone for good?

Thanks

Unless you used an app to back them up they're gone for good.
What messaging app are you using? Is it Handcent? I did see in the recent update for that app claimed to fix the force close errors.

I kinda had the same thing happen to me today...only, I wasn't deleting messages.  I went to find a text message with needed information, and ALL my text messages are gone.  How can that happen?  I did notice there was some sort of  "Back-up" running, but I don't have any idea what was being backed up?  Is there any way to find out what was backing up?  Thx!!!

The "back up" could have been your contacts syncing.

this seems to be a growing problem, it happened to me, and I have seen it on multiple forums.

I am not sure if this is a verizon issue or a FROYO/Incredible issue, but it really needs to be resolved

And, whaddya know, it happened again today. I think I'm gonna need to use one of those stupid back up sites for my phone. I can't believe this happened to me twice. Again, there were extremely important--and locked!--messages on there! I am really extremely **bleep** about this., Anyone know if any of the other "smart"phones are more reliable?

Never had an issue with my Blackberry messages or emails "deleteing by themselves".  Plus it is easy to backup the BB using Desktop Software.
