My incredible 2 texting alert does not sound when i get a message. I changed the setting previously so my message is not flashing on the screen but it now doesnt alert me to a new text message. I changed it back to default setting and the only way that my phone alerts is the actualy message flashing across my screen for everyone to see. I even played around with all the setting, it does not even work!!!..Anyone come across this?..any tips/recommedations would be appreciated
Are you using the stock messaging app, or a downloaded one from the market such as Handcent SMS?
Try doing a battery pull for about 30 seconds and see if that helps.
Also, double and triple check your settings. Even your call settings and Notification volume - make sure all of these are on. I don't think turning off the flashing light would make you lose the sound, but I guess it could.

Setting message options
On the All messages screen, press MENU and then tap Settings. You’ll find several groups of settings.
Received messages
Received notification | Receive a notification in the status bar when a new message arrives. |
Play notification sound | Set your phone to play a sound when a new message arrives. |
Notification sound | Choose a sound that will play when you receive a message. |
Vibrate | Set your phone to vibrate when a new message arrives. |
Start a new topic or ask questions in the open forum.
