Text message alert sounds

Does anyone know how to get the Verizon beeps for text messages? The 4 beeps that are on almost all feature phones. I haven't been able to find it on any of the ringtone apps.

Also, what alert do you guys use for your texts? I'm using one of the preset ones that comes with the DX, but I'm still not used to it because I had used the 4 beeps for years.

Hi Kooshie,

On the Droid X, individual contacts can have their own ringtones, but message notifications cannot be specified per contact. In Message Settings, the ringtone you select will play for all text messages.

You are able to set different ringtones for when contacts call you, but the selection you make for your messaging ringtone will be the same for all messages.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day!

For people I text with on a regular basis I use a different tone for each contact. For the default I use the preset Droid. Download zedge and search for beeper, I'm sure you should be able to find what you want there.

I've tried out a bunch of different ringtone apps, but none of them (zedge included) have the one I want :smileysad:

I think it may be an LG specific ringtone, but I'm not sure.

Oh well.

@vereyezuhn if you like songs from youtube you can convert them by using a program called Listen to youtube .com You go on

your phones browswer to get the program then once on there you'll want to go to youtube on your P.c  find a song you like. then

while that song is there look up at you bar that has the URL for that song. Now you'll want to take an copy that URL in the space

bar on the Listen to youtube Space bar an it will then convert that song thats on you tube to a MP3 for the Phone. but be aware some

songs will work an some wont . As this was the case for me but i have converted about 25 songs i could'nt find anywear els

an they don't sound to bad.

You have to use a 3rd party app such as handcent or chomp.

Well it says it will be here on Wednesday, but I have relented & decided to give it to my husband as a promotion gift, he recently made Master Sargent. I will be jealous but I will deal with it :smileywink:

Thank you for the reply, I was aware that you were unable to accomplish this with the stock messaging app.

You may want to try searching the Market for an application that supports this. But the messaging application that comes with the phone does not.

Thank you for your posting and have a great weekend!
