Text msgs disappearing

So I send a text and as soon as I hit send, it disappears. However on the main screen it will show that conversation as having an unread MSG (bold), but when I go into the conversation there is nothing but all the old texts. Then when someone texts me back, it shows up at the top of my phone briefly, but when go into my text msgs, it is either no where to be found, or halfway down my list of old text conversations (and then when i go into the conversation, the newest msgs are at the top rather than the bottom). What is up?!?! This started after my phone shut down on its own this morning, and then got stuck while rebooting. Had to remove battery and reboot again. Hope this is easily resolved.

Try reprogramming the phone to the Verizon Wireless network.  Dial *228, option 1.
