I bought a new Droid back around March. I absolutely love it and have not had a problem until now. The screen is now randomly doing things like calling people, starting apps, trys to unlock the phone. It looks like a ghost is trying to use the phone.I've seen that some people have had this problem, but haven't found any sort of solution other than taking it back. Is this the only option. I've tried all the suggestions I've seen on the internet. No recent software update has occurred. There is no humidity or heat issues, doesn't matter if I'm plugged into the charger or not.
I don't mind swapping it out as long as I don't get a refurbished..Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks

Take it back. You will get a refurb, unless you are incredibly lucky and can convince someone in authority to give you a new, different, phone.
Don't sweat the refurb. Most of them are better than 'out of the box new'. And if you get a bad one of those, just exchange it for another one.
I've been thru it both ways. Had the exact same screen problem you had with my forst. The second (after lasting 9 monthes) kept rebooting. The second refub was toast out of the box, but the replacement they sent is working fine.
You don't really have much choice anyway, unless you want to spring for a new phone.

Are you using the stock/original charger? Any other charger seems to create the same results.

Mine is doing the same exact thing.... I was just about ready to throw it against the wall. I had to drive 45 miles to a Verizon store where they have tech guys there... just to show them the text messages that it was sending people.... calling random numbers, opening up apps, locking down... all kinds of stuff.... needless to say, he glanced at it and said... yep, you need another phone. Placed an order for it and I was out the door in 5 minutes. But had to wait 2 days for it to get here (still waiting actually). But from what I heard, ALOT of people are having trouble with their droid.... will be glad when my contract is up.... I want to go to AT&T!

I don't beleive you'e correct blaming the charger. I have had my Droid 1 since release day and had this problem develop in the last 24 hours. I ONLY use the stock charger.

Have you done a master reset yet? Do you have the issue with the SD card out of the phone?

Guys, it could be the oil and such on your screen. Wipe it with a tissue or something and reboot, then it works perfectly fine.
mine does this sometimes so I use a tissue, clean the screen, reboot, and its done.

P.S. My warrenty is expired and my phone is a replacement and it worked perfectly fine until I ran into a water fountain yesterday, now its doing this, http://community.vzw.com/t5/PDA-Smartphone-Devices/Motorola-Droid-A855-Screen-Flickering/td-p/550962)

Hello T_Yamamoto,
I'm glad everything was working well for you until the fountain incident. I am unable to click on the link, so can you explain what the phone is doing please? Did the phone get wet or is it cracked? Either answer will require insurance to successfully replace the phone, so my next question would be do you have insurance?
