I have a Motorola Droid that I purchased a couple weeks ago (July 2010). The first week I had it the phone worked perfectly. After a week , my phone’s touch screen, the keys just under the touch screen, and, on occasion, the physical keyboard become unresponsive to my touch. The screen will start responding as if I am touching it, selecting links and letters on the virtual keyboard or choosing options in apps. It will select items and letters without me touching the screen or the phone. This normally happens when I am in the browser, using text messaging or in email, but can happen when I am in an app also. It can happen up to 5-10 times a day. I have the same issues regardless of the environment I am in, strength of signal I have, or if am allowing roaming data connection, connection to wifi, and Bluetooth connectivity. If I turn the screen off and then turn it back on the screen becomes responsive again and I am able to use it.
The following applications are on my phone.
Adobe reader version 32116
Advanced Task Killer Free version 59
Antivirus version 30
Backgrounds version 20
Calculator version 8
Compass leveler version 20100526
EboBirthday version 74
Dictionary.com version 5
DroidLight version 4
Earth version 10
EasyShare version 14
Facebook version 121
Google Sky Map version 1021
Mail version 2507
Maps version 4305
Market version 1713
MotoSpeak version 23
My Verizon Mobile version 5
ScanLife version 11
Skyfire version 18794
Whoopee Cushion version 13
WikiMobile version 122
Any suggestions to fix this annoyance?

I found out what the problem was. It was the antivirus app. Antivirus should not be put on the phone according to verizon.

And what does Verizon recommend to do to protect the phones from the internet sewage that one has to swim through ? If the antivirus is the problem, does anyone know if they're working on the problem?
