Transfer of contacts from LG to Droid X2, present but not accessible

I've purchased a Droid X2, moving from an LG VX8350 (maybe the numbers aren't quite right) but...
the Verizon guy said he could xfer my phone list from the LG to the Droid on "a machine". Good, fine, whatever.
He tried but told me the data didn't transfer. Darn. Sure enough, no old numbers in my Droid "Contacts"
but all my sync'ed Gmail contacts were present.
Then...when using an app called QR Droid, I came across ALL my old numbers mixed with my
Gmail data in a set of choices to create QR codes. Sadly, they don't show up any place else,
or at least not that I can find them.
Question...is there another location for contact data that I might retrieve the desired info and
have it in my standard phone directory?
Thanks

Was the LG phone an Android Device? If so you could use the free VZW backup app.

No, the old phone was "just a phone".
I had tried to use Back-up Assistant online but kept
getting a failure notice "Catalog not available, try again later".
Verizon guy, at the store, very helpful but couldn't figure out
device-to-device xfer.
It occurred but the data is not in a place I can get to.
Thanks

That's because you cannot transfer standard phone contacts to a smart phone. The information is stored differently. No choice but to punch the info in.

Well, I'd accept that except I can clearly see them in another location.
They obviously transferred to the new Droid but to some obscure
folder where this little QR Droid app is finding them.
Where would that be and how can I move them to my regular contacts?
Thanks

You will have to try to find a way to pull that data and place it into the contacts list. I don't know of any apps that do this, maybe someone else will come along with a solution that works.

"Was the LG phone an Android Device? If so you could use the free VZW backup app."
what planet are you from that you can't get contacts from a non-droid phone to a droid because of different formats?
i had a voyager for years and everything was xferred thru backup assistant to the dx before i any contact info was in gmail.

Dont know what you mean, I clicked on link and it opened fine....
Heres the post info pasted from site...
Contacts from LG phone to Motorola Droid
If you have previously backed up your phone using Verizon Backup Assistant, see these instructions: Load Contacts from Verizon Backup Assistant to Motorola Droid
Step 1
- Download Bitpim: Welcome to BitPim
- Connect your phone to you computer using a USB data cable (or bluetooth) (make sure you have the proper drivers installed for you phone - The current LG USB Modem driver is here: http://www.lgmobilephones.com/upload..._4.9.4_All.exe
- In BitPim go to Edit > Detect Phone - if BitPim can't detect your phone check to make sure BitPim can 'see' the phone - Select Settings and Browse to see what is showing up on the com ports - if your phone isn't showing up go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports and see if there is an error. If there is you don't have the correct drivers installed.
- Once you get your phone detected in BitPim go to Data > Get Phone Data
- Select the data you want to import - in this case the phonebook
- You should see data populate the PhoneBook area
- Go to File > Export > vCards - save the file to somewhere known (like your desktop)
- Log Into your Gmail account
- Click Contacts in the left menu
- Click Import in the top right
- Choose file and select the vcard file you just saved (add them to a group if you want)
- Click Import
- Your contacts will be imported into your Gmail account
- On your Droid make sure you have connected your Gmail account
- Go to contacts > Menu > Accounts
- Select your Gmail account > Menu > Sync Now
- Your new contacts will be imported - Any duplicates should be merged.

no big surprise there, it was your link.
is there an echo here, i mentioned ba how many posts back.
"bitpim"????? seems a bit long way to get contacts on phone when ba has been a freebie a long time.
oh i remember now, you tell folks that ba doesn't work and recommend they don't use it.
your "load contacts" link only loaded 1/2 way but not the whole page.
when i activated my dx i was asked if i wanted to import from ba and had to give the phone password.
you probably remember when i told you this about the 4 digit phone code that's in myverizon/ba, top right..

This allows you to export cortact info completly so if other solutions dont work then open your mind to other options..

a while back you posted a link with a few folks who had problems with ba.
everyone in my family/extended family use ba without any issues, 10 people.
as i've stated, i've used ba for a long time and do agree that the gmail sync is pretty slick but if for some resason that account is corrupted, ba still does the deed.

i had a voyager for years and everything was xferred thru backup assistant to the dx before i any contact info was in gmail.
The voyager was a feature phone that had access to Backup assistant which I mentioned in my first response. A standard LG phone might not have access to BA. With that said bitpim is the only real solution for the OP.
And yes Wildman's link works fine.

the 8350 had close to the same specs as the voyager, looking at phone scoop.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
