Okay, so after several replacements since VZW is convinced the most recent software is top notch and this device is greater than God ...I still have many issues with the phone and since HTC and VZW are required to back the phone, they have been useless. Here are the problems I am having, and what I have attempted (these issues happens on the last three devices)
1) Sync: I have all auto syncs off (to make my phone last an hour longer than the 2 hours it normally last) yet, the Backup Assistant and Google syncs still kick in when I am on the phone and when this happens, I cannot hear the person I am talking to and have to pull the battery. It sometimes happens 2 or 3 in a row.
Attempted fix: Battery Pulls and Factory Resets but problem continues
2) Mail: my AOL account is set to check every 15 minutes but I only get emails when I open the mail icon and usually have 15-20 emails waiting for me.
Attempted fix: Manual set up as follows but still no notifications.
POP server: pop.aol.com
POP port: 110
SSL required: No
3) Music: When using HTC standard music player, the ringer is on silent and when an incoming call comes in, the music continues to play (stopped on previous verison)
Attempted fix: Battery Pulls and Factory Resets but problem continues
4) Battery Life: Getting about 3 hours of battery life without charge. Working 10-12 hours a day, have to constantly charge the phone.
Attempted fix: All auto syncs off, All widgets off, All GPS off, No ATK (since useless due to VZW's preinstalled and unremovable/unstoppable apps), no third party apps, Brightness minimal, Screen times out after 15 seconds, Data Connection turned off as much as possible
5) Auto Scroll: atleast once a day, the phone will scroll down on its own and scroll thru home screens.
Attempted fix: Factory reset but still happens atleast once a day.
6) Preinstalled apps: Rumor is these apps do not use data or battery and fall into unused memory but I am not buying it since every app is detected by battery monitors. I think it is ridiculous I cannot uninstall (or even terminate) apps I will NEVER use, such as:
3G Mobile Hotspot
Amazon
City ID
FM Radio
Footprints
Friend Stream
Google Search
My Verizon Mobile
New and Weathers (why is this here AND separate apps for New AND Weather?)
News
Weather
Peep
Skype
Slacker
Stocks
Vcast Apps
VZ Navigator
7) Lag: Anytime I happen to be risky and download third party apps, the phone lags dramatically afterwards (despite the amount of built in memory) My guess is that since the above apps are running, I now have to take those into consideration anytime I install apps I actually prefer.
Attempted Fix: Tried to **** but unsuccessful
😎 Browser: Since the last update, many times the Google home page is in PC view and not Mobile view although mobile view is checked. Also, when on pages that have several imagines, screen blacks out and never loads completely (on 3G and WiFi)
Attempted Fix: Battery Pulls and Factory resets but problem continues
So ...after many replacements and MANY adjustments to settings and resets and battery pulls, phone STILL provides many many many many many MANY problems.
Any suggestions or can we just agree that the phone is garbage and quit convincing ourselves the phone is good only because we are stuck with it for another year or two years.

There HAS to be an app that is running consistently. I have 7 email accounts checking for mail every 15 minutes. I also have weather updating once an hour. I never shut off the GPS as it is not running unless needed. I use the phone to listen to music and am on the net not alot but often, and I get a day of use without even thinking about it.
What apps have you added??? There is an app called, Syatem Panel lite Task Manger. I do not use it to kill apps, but I do use it to check memory, CPU usage, and storage. and for programs that may be stuck running.
I would DL it and see what app may be running AND using resources.

You sound beat up and beat down. I'll be honest, I'm not going to sift through the entire message thread to attempt to give an answer to each issue. However, I will say that my DInc is by far the best smartphone I have ever owned. I wouldn't trade it for any other phone currently on the market, except perhaps a Droid 2. When Froyo came out, there were a couple of issues, but they seem to have resolved in the months since then.
If you want general advice, I would say that if you indeed have that many issues with your phone, you need another phone. I don't sit around and talk on my device very often, so my DInc lasts all day, with email checking and surfing the web in some moderation. Otherwise I use my car charger if I'm traveling or if I'm using battery sucking applications, like the GPS navigation.
But you should be able to have your phone sync things all day long without your battery going dead, unless you are using it moderately to heavily for internet, videos, navigation, music, etc -- things that would need the thing to actively operate. I hope some of this is helpful to you, even though I didn't read your whole message.

Other than the pre installed apps, I have nothing else running (besides FB and Music which I will explain in a little more detail) ...I have gave up installing third party apps since they seem to do more harm to the battery and system lagging. The texting, FB and music (thru the standard HTC player) is what I use most often and I am thinking it all points towards the music player being the biggest battery drainer. It shuffles approx 700 songs which I skip thru often and having to hit the 'unlock' key to bring up the lock screen player 5-10 times an hour could be the issue (bringing the screen up out of a sleep state that much after the screen turns off every 15 seconds could be the problem?)
If I listen to the music player consistenly, the battery is near its end after 2 to 2 1/2 hours ...I deleted all the album artwork thinking that would be less stress on the battery/screen but not much of a difference (goes to show how desperate I am to get this thing to last)
If I invest in a MP3 player, that may solve the battery issue and missed calls ...but unfortunately all the other issues seem to be software related and replacements/resets do not seem to fix it.

You found the culprit with running the device constantly with music.

I would not run my DInc's music player (Double Twist) without a power connection. These phones just don't seem built to function just like an iPod yet. Any app that I sit and interact with over and over again will soon drain the battery. You could probably go with a larger capacity battery, but for the price, you might not be happy with the added time it gives you. For music (since you listen so much), you could probably go with buying a cheap late generation iPod on eBay, get all the capacity you want, and good battery life, without all the frills that make the new iPods so expensive.

Yeah I will go that route ...found a pretty cheap Ipod on ebay and will just do that. Now for the software issues, I will proceed with ****ing.
Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions!
