Turn by Turn through Bluetooth

I have a jawbone bluetooth. When I go into navigate the turn by turn instructions don't go through the bluetooth. The person at the Verizon store said 'oh, can't do that'. I find it hard to believe. Even turned up high, it is almost impossible to drive and understand what I'm beling told. I have to pick up the phone to be able to understand. Secondly, almost every state now requires hands free devices. Is it possible that the turn by turn really can't go through the bluetooth? I hope a programmer reads this.
Thanks!

I can hear mine just fine through the phones speaker.
To hear the navigation or music through a BT headset the headset has to support A2DP.

Thank you Pool Shark! If that is all it takes, I'm buying a new BT.

I don't think there are a lot of headsets that support that protocol. I have the BlueAnt T1. It works great. It transfers your contacts from your phone to the headset and there is an app in the Market that will allow you to have your text messages read to you in the headset.
