I was deleting a conversation when a new messgae from that user was coming in. Now a notification of that message pops up constantly and the notification sounds plays. However, when I go to my messages the message is not there. When I try to navigate to it from the notification bar, I click it and it says loading, but goes nowhere. It is extremely annoying...can someone tell me how to get rid of it. I have powered down my phone and updated the phone, no success!

I would look at see if the message you are sending may be stuck in the draft folder. With the stock messaging program I had the issue and it took me forever to detrmine the reason why it kept showing up. I use Handcent now. There are more options with the app.
Then I would pull the battery while the device is on. Wait a minute, re-insert and power up and see if that clears the icon.
On another subject, since you do message I would DL SMS Backup.(Or something like it) This app allows you to send every text to an email address for keeping. At some point, your messages will most likely disappear.
I set up a specific gmail account just for the text messages.

Thank you for getting back to me...
So far, taking the battery while the phone was on rather than off seems to have worked. Guess we will see. Thank you!!!!!!!
And thanks for the messgae back-up idea and handcent app, i will have to do some homework on this.

I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried taking out the battery, downlading Hancent, deleting the texts, texting the person back. I have even tried to load it from the notification screen. Nothing seems to help. This has been going on for weeks now. The only easy fix is to disable the notifications and i do not want to do that....anyone have any other ideas?? I plan to repost this topic on the msg boards now that your says it was solved....
I appreciate any feedback....
