UNBlocked number in contact list

I have complete blocking so that my number dosen't show on the caller id of the people i'm calling.

For certain contacts, I have a *82 prefix so that My number will be unblocked for that contact.

My Problem is that when I send a text, i have to remove the *82 for it to work.

Is there a way i can have my phone call *82-123-456-7890 and text  1-123-456-7890?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. If we were to add Caller ID Block to your account, your number would in fact be blocked permanently, but for ALL your contacts.

To deactivate permanent Caller ID blocking on a per call basis:

  • Dial *82 and then the number
  • Press SEND

Note: This action only unblocks Caller ID blocking to that number for that one call. Note: This feature cannot be added online via "My Verizon."

Thanks,

This might be a workaround, but how about having two numbers in the contact information? One is formatted for the voice calls and the other for text messages. Depending on your phone, you might also be able to change the description of the phone number to help you remember which one is the blocked info number.

That's a start. I got the unblocked number as Mobile1 and the block number as mobile2. Looks like it will work. Have to wait for someone to text me to test it.

Not all people have unlimited texting.

Hello,

Thank you Community Members for providing troubleshooting tips. It is very much appreciated.

Although you can block caller id from appearing when placing phone calls, you will not be able to block your number from showing up when sending a text message.

From your computer, you can send a text message to another Verizon Wireless user at the web address below:

VTEXT.COM

This option will allow you to enter a callback number yourself without having to provide your Verizon Wireless mobile number.

Thank you.

Little more clarification...

I don't care if my number shows while texting.

I just don't want my number to show while calling.

My problem is while texting, I have to remove the *82 for the texting to work.

What I am doing now is doing a *67 on all my contacts, and just the number on the folks that I want my number to show.

its a bigger pain, but it works.

Now I have to remember to dial *67 before any number that is not in my contacts list.

Is there something that i can do to have permenant blocking except for texting and selected contacts.

??? I dont understand the point of you blocking your number when you call but once you text them its unblocked and they have your number then.... so why not just leave it unblocked for those you text anyways???

I don't mind them having my number. I just don't want them knowing it's me calling.

It's for my kids and their friends.

When I'm trying to track down or get ahold of my kids, they never answer my call.

BUT they will always answer unknown or blocked numbers.
