Me too!! I am sick of not being able to install custom kernels to get enhanced abilities such as lowering voltages and cpu governers as well as the increased battery life.  I increased my Incredible from 6-8 hours to 14-16 hours with cyanogenmod and incredikernel.  The open source community treats their users with respect and releases quality enhancements well ahead of all the bloatware enhanced Blur/Sense Roms.. do your part and allow manufacturers to release unlocked bootloaders on their phones.

I couldn't agree more. The advantages of having a phone that works the way you want it to outweigh the control and crapware Verizon puts on the phone. Sure, we can (edited content to comply with VZW Community ToS) them and in spite of Verizon says, the experience improves greatly. I hate the idea of them not making it AS EASY AS THEIR COMPETITORS.

My frustration will last until (Edited content to comply with VZW Community ToS) releases a ROM for my Galaxy III.
